Have you seen ‘The Lion King’? If not, then you must watch it as it is the Hamlet but with the lions instead of English actors. The Lion King would prove to be infinite times better even if it was filmed with Englishman. And on the other hand, if we talk about ‘Coming to America,’ it was more of a good cult film, but it lacks the required appeal.
What is the reason for the comparison of both films?
Both films, The Lion King and Coming to America, share a common thread, i.e., the role of King and Queen is played by the same actors in both the films. James Earl Jones as the king and Madge Sinclair as the queen.
Reasons for casting the same actors
Casting James Earl Jones as Mufasa was pretty obvious because of his powerful and similar to lion roars sound. He has the ultimate amount of testosterone, audible chocolate, and raw sex appeal in his voice that no one else has. However, the voice actors for the movie were chosen on the basis that it inspires the animator’s imagination or not.
Also, there is nothing mention why specifically Madge Sinclair was a cast in the movie.
On the other hand, there is no specific reasoning mentioned the casting of Coming to America. It is a mediocre Eddie Murphy film from the 1980s; thus, there is no well- documented evidence related it the cast.
Another coincidence between these films
There is another significant coincidence between The Lion King and Coming to America. James Earl Jones, before he worked in The Lion King and Coming to America, he also became the voice of Darth Vader, which means, he has played in both the worst and the best fictional movies in the cinema.
Also, Madge Sinclair, before coming to the sets of Coming to America, was starring alongside John Amos in an acclaimed TV series – Roots. John Amos played the role of her husband. The same series changed the cast and starred James Earl Jones. It happened after the release of Coming to America but before the release of The Lion King. Both of them were also seen together in a TV show – Gabriel’s Fire, for which they both secured an Emmy award. Thus, it seems that they both liked to work together.
Thus, worked together in a TV series and a movie – ‘Coming to America’ made both the actors comfortable. So, Jones and Madge Sinclair became the most suited pair for the voice dubs of the King and Queen in ‘The Lion King’.
